I got hit by a car while I was in a crosswalk in Los Angeles. Can I sue for my injuries?

I am so sorry to hear about your pedestrian accident. Most pedestrians assume they will be safe in crosswalks, and for good reason. Drivers are required to respect crosswalks. When a driver hits a pedestrian who is inside a crosswalk, the law is on the pedestrian’s side. Unfortunately, despite all the laws in place to protect pedestrians, thousands are killed each year. Many more are injured.

California law gives pedestrians the right of way in crosswalks in most circumstances. That does not prevent accidents from occurring. If a pedestrian is hit by a car in a crosswalk, in most cases the pedestrian can file a claim with the negligent driver’s insurance company. The insurance company should compensate the pedestrian for his or her medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering, and more.

However, the injured pedestrian is not always able to recover compensation from the negligent driver’s insurance company. In some cases, the driver who caused the accident may have fled the scene and cannot be located. In many cases, even if the driver does not flee the scene, the driver may not have automobile insurance or may be underinsured. In those cases, it is possible for the accident victim to pursue compensation from their own insurance company for their damages. An experienced Los Angeles pedestrian accident attorney can help.

I suffered an electrocution at work in California. Is my employer legally responsible for my injuries?

I’m so sorry to hear about the electrocution. Electrocution involves serious injury or sometimes death because of an electrical shock to the body.

When an electrical current touches the human body, the current normally looks for a pathway through the body. It often finds an exit to either a grounded surface or another electrical pathway. The damage to the body depends on the voltage, the amount of time the current spends in the body, and the pathway chosen by the current. Electrocutions often cause burns, and can cause damage to the cardiovascular system, the central nervous system, and the musculoskeletal system.

Every year in the U.S. there are hundreds of electrocution deaths. Many of these occur due to electrical accidents in the workplace. There are several thousand more injuries because of electrical accidents. Many of these injuries are permanently disabling.

When a worker suffers injuries in an electrocution, those injuries could prevent him or her from returning to work. The worker may be able to pursue a workers’ compensation case against the employer and/or a third-party lawsuit against the other parties involved in the accident.

I suffered paralysis in a car accident in Los Angeles. What are my legal options?

I am very sorry to hear about your paralysis. Paralysis can have a huge impact on a victim’s quality of life, life span, and financial outlook. The decisions that a paralysis victim makes after the accident will have a direct impact on the victim’s physical and financial well-being.

When there is an injury to a spinal cord, the body’s ability to transmit information back and forth between the brain and muscles is impaired. The location on the body where the trauma occurred is very important, because it determines the impact of the injury on the accident victim. Normally, the closer a spinal cord injury is to the brain, the more significant the injury.

Most victims of spinal cord injuries have special medical needs for the rest of their lives. It’s been estimated that a person who becomes a quadriplegic at age 25 will face about $5 million in medical expenses during their lifetimes. In addition to the astronomical medical expenses, victims are often unable to work and support themselves.

For some people, a personal injury lawsuit can provide some of the necessary funds. If you have been the victim of a spinal cord injury in Los Angeles, you should speak with an attorney right away. Teenager Riding on Roof of Uber Vehicle Killed

An Uber driver allowed two teenaged passengers to ride on the roof of his SUV in New York and one of them died. The driver allegedly accepted $40 from three boys in exchange for letting two of them ride on the roof of his vehicle during a trip in Long Island in September.

During the trip, a 15-year-old boy fell from the roof and hit his head, which later led to his death. Another passenger, a 16-year-old boy, filmed the stunt for Snapchat. The driver was charged with a single count of manslaughter. According to the district attorney in charge of the case, the three boys were picked up from a Long Island 7-Eleven just after midnight and had been drinking.

During the stunt, one boy fell from the car and hit his head badly while they were riding on the roof at a speed of up to 30 miles an hour. The Uber driver then dropped them off at one of their houses without calling 911. The boy who hit his head died from his injuries in his sleep that night. The cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head. The driver’s license was suspended, and he is awaiting trial. Uber said that it is troubled by the incident, and the driver has been permanently removed from the app.

This incident is the latest in a series of troubling events that were caused by rideshare drivers. Rideshare companies, such as Uber and Lyft, often fail to do proper driving and background checks. Virtually all of the hiring process is done online. In addition, many passengers use rideshare companies because they have been drinking, which can lead them vulnerable to harm from drivers.

If you have been harmed by a rideshare driver, you should speak with an attorney. Call me, Conal Doyle, Los Angeles rideshare accident attorney at 310-385-0567. You may have a legal right to sue the rideshare company, the driver, or both. Call today to learn more or to schedule a free consultation.

Another Uber Driver Accused of Raping Intoxicated Passenger

Another driver for Uber has been accused of raping an intoxicated passenger in Boston. The driver picked up an unidentified woman outside of a bar in Boston. At some point during the ride, he pulled over on a one-way street, climbed into the back of the car, and allegedly raped her. The victim, who said she was “highly intoxicated”, says that after the rape, the driver woke her into consciousness and offered to pull up her pants.

The driver admitted to having sex with the woman but says the interaction was consensual. He was arrested and charged with rape. He claims that the woman requested to have sex with him and that footage from a camera in his car would prove his claim. Police searched his car and reviewed the camera but did not find anything to corroborate the driver’s claims.

The driver’s attorney said that the woman was intoxicated and did not remember portions of what had happened. However, the driver was found to have a criminal record, including a 2015 arrest for soliciting sex for money and some drug-related charges. Uber announced that the company had rescinded the driver’s access to the app and will continue to cooperate with law enforcement.

Uber has been found to have a long history of sexual misconduct by drivers. An investigation done earlier this year by CNN found that 100 Uber drivers have been accused of sexually assaulting or abusing customers in the U.S. over the last four years.

Unfortunately, ride share companies often do not do a thorough background check into their drivers like they should. This can leave passengers vulnerable to sexual assaults, thefts, and other criminal actions. If you have been harmed by a rideshare driver, you should speak with an attorney. I suffered from a traumatic brain injury as a result of an accident in Los Angeles. Can I sue the person who caused the accident?

Yes, you may be able to sue the person who caused your accident. An injury to the brain can be one of the worst types of injuries. Victims may never fully recover, or if they do, the recovery process may be long, painful, and expensive. You may be entitled to compensation for your medical expenses, pain and suffering, lost wages, and more.

Normally, in order to file a lawsuit against the wrongdoer, you must be able to prove that the injuries you suffered were the direct result of another person or company’s negligent actions. First, you must prove that the wrongdoer owed you a duty of care – for example, drivers owe other drivers on the roads a duty to drive safely. Next, you must show that the wrongdoer breached that duty, and that the breach of the duty was a cause of your injuries. Finally, you must be able to prove that you suffered damages as a result.

Brain injuries can be caused by a number of causes. Automobile accidents are the largest causes of traumatic brain injuries in people between the ages of 15 and 44. Workplace accidents are also a large cause of brain injuries. Birth injuries can commonly lead to long-term brain injuries. Finally, medical malpractice can sometimes result in brain injuries, or in a brain injury becoming worse.

If you have suffered from a traumatic brain injury, you may be entitled to compensation from the person or company who caused your injuries. You may be entitled to money for your medical expenses, pain and suffering, lost wages, and more. Call me, Conal Doyle, Los Angeles personal injury attorney, at 310-385-0567. I can help. Southern California Woman Settles Lawsuit Against Uber, Alleging Rape by Driver

A Southern California woman recently settled her lawsuit against Uber for damages she suffered during an alleged rape by an Uber driver. The woman sued Uber for sexual battery, false imprisonment, battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and civil rights violations.

The lawsuit claims that in the summer of 2017, the woman attended a work function in Los Angeles and called an Uber to take her to her boyfriend’s home because she had been drinking. She alleged that the driver took her to her destination and administered a date rape drug or something similar which rendered her unconscious. Once they reached the woman’s destination, the driver continued to the Ritz Motel in North Hollywood, where he carried the woman into a hotel room and raped her, according to the lawsuit.

The driver left and the woman awoke later dazed and confused in an unfamiliar location wearing only a shirt. She later discovered she had been sexually assaulted. The driver is awaiting trial on charged which include kidnapping and the rape of an unconscious person.

The driver lost his Uber driving privileges in June 2017 when the crime was reported, and the Uber company worked with police. Since the attack, Uber has added new safety features which include an emergency button, improvements to its driver screening process, and has added the former Secretary of Homeland Security to lead Uber’s safety board. The victim and Uber recently settled the lawsuit for an unspecified amount.

However, many believe that Uber and Lyft do not do enough to screen their drivers and to keep passengers safe. If you have been the victim of a crime committed by an Uber or Lyft driver, you should speak with an attorney. Call me, Conal Doyle, Los Angeles personal injury attorney, at 310-385-0567. I can help. I got an infection from a dog bite in Los Angeles. Can I sue the dog’s owner for my injuries?

I’m sorry to hear about the dog bite. Dog bites are becoming increasingly common in larger cities such as Los Angeles. As the population of dogs continues to grow, bites become more common. Although fortunately most dog bites do not result in death, it is common for dog bites to become infected.

The most common types of infections that occur due to dog bites are strep and staph infections. If they are treated immediately, they can be very easily cured. However, if the victim does not seek help immediately or they are not correctly diagnosed, they can spread quickly and cause serious medical issues. There are also some rare types of infections that are caused by dog bites that can easily result in death.

If you have been bitten by a dog, you should seek medical treatment. Normally the wound needs to be cleaned and dressed. It should also be monitored for signs of an infection for at least the next 24 to 48 hours.

Under California law, dog owners are legally responsible for the actions of their dogs. If a dog bite occurs, the dog’s owner has the legal responsibility to pay for medical expenses and other damages. If the dog is a stray or is not owned by anyone, you will have a more difficult case but there may be some steps you can take to get reimbursed, depending on the circumstances.

I have been seriously burned in an automobile fire in Los Angeles. What are my legal options?

I am so sorry to hear about your burn injuries. Burns can be very traumatic. They leave both physical and emotional scars that can impact the lives of the victims forever. If your burn has been the result of an accident which was caused by another driver’s negligence, or because of the poor manufacture or design of an automobile, you may be able to recover compensation for your injuries.

Burns are some of the most painful injuries a person can incur because the skin’s surface contains such a high density of nerves. With burns that are an advanced stage, the victim may experience very painful treatments such as skin grafts that require surgery. Cosmetic surgery may also be necessary in order to minimize the appearance of the burns.

If you have been burned in an automobile accident, you should speak with an attorney. Normally, insurance companies will resist paying the maximum amount to which you are entitled. An attorney can help you fight for your legal rights. This normally involves filing a lawsuit, building a strong case, entering into settlement negotiations, and possibly taking the case to trial if you cannot reach an agreeable settlement.
